'''Cuddles''' is one of the main characters, and the mascot of the internet and television franchise, ''[[Happy Tree Friends]]''. He is the first character to be created prior to the show's proper debut. While Cuddles made his official debut in the episode, ''[[Spin Fun Knowin' Ya]]'', he appeared in the then-unreleased short "[[Banjo Frenzy|''Banjo Frenzy'']]" where a blue dinosaur (an earlier version of [[Lumpy]]) killed the rabbit character resembling him. Rhode hung the drawing up in his workstation, with the intent of allowing his idea to be seen by others. His idea was eventually pitched to the Mondo Media executives, who later accepted the concept.

An early sketch depicts the rabbit and a beaver playing with a bomb. The rabbit was subsequently featured in later sketches with a slight redesign. A particular design of the rabbit was featured in a sketch alongside a beaver, squirrel, and bear character; this would serve as the basis of the unreleased short, [[Banjo Frenzy|''Banjo Frenzy'']]. Cuddles is rebellious and a bit self-centered. Both of these traits have frequently led to his death. At the same time, however, Cuddles is generally a friendly character, though he can be gullible at times. In the episode, ''[[In a Jam]]'', he is shown to like rock music. As revealed in the [[Happy Tree Friends: Break|Break]], ''[[Seize the Day]]'', Cuddles suffers from epilepsy. It was mentioned that he is actually allergic to carrots since they make him choke<ref name=":0" />. Cuddles is a yellow rabbit with pink blushes on his cheeks. On his torso, he has an abdominal marking that is a lighter shade of yellow. Cuddles also has a white hair tuft, which is modeled identically to his cotton tail. Cuddles' ears often move to reflect his expression; if Cuddles is upset, they usually drop down. But if Cuddles is happy or excited, they stay up. Inside Cuddles' fur seem to contain pockets, as seen in the episode "''[[In a Jam]]''". 

He normally wears pink bunny slippers and nothing else. Cuddles is rarely seen without his slippers, but the coloration of his soles have been a subject of inconsistency. In "''[[In a Jam]]''", he was briefly shown to have grey-colored soles. In "''[[The Carpal Tunnel Of Love]]''", Cuddles was erroneously drawn without his slippers in one scene and had white soles instead.  {{citation needed}}

In his original debut in "''[[Banjo Frenzy]]''", Cuddles had an entirely different appearance. He didn't have any pink features on his body, including his cheeks and bunny slippers. His fur is also more golden than laser yellow. He also had an upside-down triangle for a nose.

Cuddles has several occupations in the series. He has been a firefighter in "[[Who's To Flame?|''Who's To Flame?'']]", though he was the first member of the rescue squad to be killed off. He was a daredevil in [[Mime To Five|''Mime To Five'']] who was supposed to be fire out of a canon by Toothy, but the beaver misinterpreted Mime's instructions, leading to both of their demises. [[Lumpy]] is also a close friend of Cuddles. In many of his appearances, [[Lumpy]] has an authority role over Cuddles. They also shared a kiss in a reference to ''[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lady_and_the_Tramp Lady and the Tramp]'' as zombies in [[Remains to be Seen|''Remains to be Seen'']]. However, some episodes depict the two as nothing more as friends. [[Flaky]] is another friend Cuddles regularly hangs out with. They would partake in various activities together, but Flaky seems to not be fond of these events. He completely ignores Flaky’s warnings in [[Water You Wading For|''Water You Wading For'']] and he forces Flaky into these activates in [[Let It Slide|''Let It Slide'']] and [[The Wrong Side of the Tracks|''The Wrong Side of the Tracks'']]. In [[Snow Place to Go|''Snow Place to Go'']], he along with Lumpy, Russell, and Toothy volunteer Flaky to retrieve the can from Giggles’ dead body. However, he also cringes upon witnessing her death in [[Mine To Five|''Mine To Five'']] and expresses shock towards her death in [[Take Your Seat|''Take Your Seat'']].   

While Cuddles and Petunia are often in the same episode, they never interacted on-screen. In [[Flippin' Burgers|''Flippin' Burgers'']], Petunia serves Cuddles his food at a resturant. Later in the episodes, he mocks Cuddles after his hands were severed and ignores him falling out of the cart. In [[In a Jam|''In a Jam'']], Cuddles strived to join a band that included Handy. In [[Don't Yank My Chain|''Don't Yank My Chain'']], Cuddles gets frightened by Handy in his well.

Cuddles and The Mole were seen together a few times. They attend the same birthday parties in [[I Get a Trick Out of You|''I Get a Trick Out of You'']] and [[Party Animal|''Party Animal'']]. Both characters also work as firemen in [[Who's to Flame?|''Who's to Flame?'']]. In [[In a Jam|''In a Jam'']], The Mole injuries Cuddles in an attempt to sample his blood and he accidentally kills Cuddles at the end of the episode. Cuddles attends Splendid's convention center in [[Wrath of Con|''Wrath of Con'']]. When Splendid cuts him in half with his laser vision by mistake in [[Just Be Claus|''Just Be Claus'']], Cuddles asks Splendid to deliver the eggs for [[Wikipedia:Easter|Easter]]. Splendid responds by taking not only the eggs, but also ripping off Cuddles' ears and wear them.

Nutty and Cuddles appear to be rivals. In [[Sweet Ride|''Sweet Ride'']]'','' Cuddles was chased by Nutty for his ice cream cone. Nutty also hijacks the latter's car in [[Happy Tree Friends: False Alarm|''Happy Tree Friends: False Alarm'']]. In [[Camp Pokeneyeout|''Camp Pokeneyeout'']], Cuddles accidentally pelts a rock at Nutty's marshmellow, causing it to be knocked into his eye and melt it. They seem to be on decent terms in ''[[In a Jam|''In a Jam]]'', where Cuddles politely asked Nutty where he got his money.

Even though Lifty, Shifty, and Cuddles rarely interact, they are rarely at odds. In [[Junk in the Trunk|''Junk in the Trunk'']], Cuddles helps Lifty and Shifty with their scheme without hesitation, until they steal his pet mouse and get him killed. They were supposed to eat at a [[Wikipedia:Christmas|Christmas]] dinner in [[Kringle Feast|''Kringle Feast'']]. In ''[[Claw]]'', Lifty and Shifty attempted to save Cuddles from the claw.

In Cuddles' only interaction with Disco Bear, he was furious after watching a video of Disco Bear dating a cardboard cutout of Giggles in ''[[YouTube 101: Subscriptions]]''. They worked at the same fire department in ''[[Who's To Flame]]''.

FLiQPy has killed Cuddles several times. In [[This Is Your Knife|''This Is Your Knife'']], Cuddles sheepishly waves at Flippy's evil side just before he was killed. In [[Party Animal|''Party Animal'']], he was horrified when Flippy's evil side killed Toothy.

Cuddles speaks in a high-pitched voice. Like most characters, Cuddles' dialogue is often jumbled and mostly consists of gibberish. However, occasionally, Cuddles would speak clear English. Cuddles is the first character to spoke an English sentence, as he said the lines "Spin Faster, Spin Faster" in [[Spin Fun Knowin' Ya!|''Spin Fun Knowin' Ya'']].  His catchphrases often include the interjection "Come on". He is one of the few characters to swear, as he said the word "Fuck" in "''[[In a Jam]]''". Cuddles has the highest number of deaths than any other character, has died in his debut, and rarely survives. Cuddles is one of the three characters to die in all of their starring roles, the other two being the raccoon duo [[Lifty & Shifty]]. Most of Cuddles' deaths usually involve his intestines, being sliced apart, getting crushed, and impaled.
